Equity is not just a value. It is a way to govern. Nina’s work asks whether residents can participate in democracy, whether public dollars expand opportunity, whether City systems are transparent, and whether the communities affected by policy are included in shaping it.

Her voter registration legislation for renters adds a practical civic access step to the existing information landlords provide at the start of a lease. People often fall off the rolls when they move, and renters move more often. By adding voter registration information to rental paperwork, the City can help residents update their registration when their address changes. It is a simple, low-cost, low-burden reform that makes it easier for every Philadelphian to have a voice.

Her Economic Opportunity Review Committee (EORC) measure strengthens standards and transparency in how Philadelphia monitors contracts serving minority, women, and disadvantaged business enterprises. By adding participation from the Greater Philadelphia Asian American Chamber of Commerce and The Independent Business Alliance  (the LGBT+ Chamber of Commerce), the City is better equipped to evaluate data, share insights, and widen the pipeline for local entrepreneurs who create jobs and keep opportunity close to home.

That same commitment runs through Nina’s work on immigrant victims of crime, child welfare accountability, women’s workplace protections, America250 inclusion, and investments in community institutions. Nina is building a City government that listens more carefully, responds more fairly, and delivers more transparently.
